Canadian Garden Heroes

Home / Canadian Garden Heroes

Celebrating Canadians that make a difference in Canada’s Garden Community

There are so many dedicated gardeners that provide inspiration and leadership to enhance the garden culture of their communities, why not acknowledge them and celebrate them on this very special year.

This is also an opportunity to showcase all the good work that various garden organizations across the country do in their community. No matter how big or small, select your hero and let your community and Canada celebrate them.

Selection and Registration

Each garden organization, horticultural societies, garden club, friends of the garden, any not-for-profit garden organization in this country, can select their Garden Hero. This selection is solely the responsibility of the garden organization, who ever is selected will be recognized by the Year of the Garden 2022 as a member of Canada’s Garden Heroes.

Once selected, by May 31st, organizations are asked to register them on the Year of the Garden 2022 website.

There are basic criteria, see below, to guide the selection of a Garden Hero, one per organization. In the end, the selection of the Garden Hero is the sole responsibility of the garden organization and will not be juries by the Year of the Garden 2022 team.

Celebrating Canada’s Garden Heroes

Registered Garden Heroes will receive a Year of the Garden 2022 Canada’s Garden Hero electronic certificate.

Their name will be listed on the Year of the Garden 2022 website and highlighted during Garden Days, June 11 to 19.

We invite organizations that select a Garden Hero to see how they could be celebrated during Garden Days. Should this not be possible, a celebration or acknowledgement on a local basis at a more appropriate time is also accepted.

We invite you to approach your municipality, especially if they have proclaimed 2022 the Year of the Garden, to see of the Mayor or Council, could find a way to celebrate all the garden heroes in your municipality.

We know that our garden culture is depended on the leadership of its members and volunteers, lets celebrate them.
